**Verified extract — [Fact — A1]** Mark Weiner of The Post-Standard Washington Notebook reported that U.S. Navy divers have suspended their search for the MQ-9 Reaper drone that crashed into Lake Ontario on Nov. 12, and will not resume recovery efforts until the spring, according to Air National Guard officials. Navy salvage divers from Virginia Beach, Va., mapped the debris field in the lake and “identified an area of interest” for investigation, said Eric Durr, speaking for the Air National Guard’s 174th Attack Wing at Hancock Field in Mattydale. The recovery effort was placed on hold for the winter due to weather conditions that complicate operations on the lake. An undisclosed amount of debris from the plane was recovered in the following days near Montario Point, near the border between Oswego and Jefferson counties. The Air National Guard temporarily suspended training flights with its unmanned Reaper drones after the crash into Lake Ontario, about 20 miles northeast of the Port of Oswego. Training flights out of Fort Drum were allowed to resume Nov. 26 after military officials decided it was safe to continue flying the unarmed planes over Northern and Central New York. Durr said an Air Force Safety Investigation Board has completed its probe into the crash but has not yet compiled a report; those results will not be released to the public. A separate Air Force Accident Investigation Board will begin looking into the crash in mid-January; those results will be made public and typically take three to six months.
