**Verified extract — [Fact — B1]** Al Jazeera reported Iranian media saying forces had brought down an unmanned US spy plane. Al Alam quoted an unnamed source on Sunday: "Iran's military has downed an intruding RQ-170 American drone in eastern Iran." IRNA and Fars said the plane was in the armed forces' possession. Fars said armed forces, air defence and the electronic-warfare unit brought it down after a brief eastern-border violation, "with slight damage." The source warned the armed response would "not be limited to our country's borders." Al Jazeera could not independently verify the information; there was no US confirmation. Trita Parsi told Al Jazeera Iran had made similar claims as recently as July. The piece recalled January's claim of two US drones and Hajizadeh's June statement that Russian experts had been shown downed US drones and Guard reverse-engineered copies.
