January opened with a camera-on-the-floor vacuum pitched as a home monitor, two Samsung companion concepts with no ship date, and a new ITC patent fight over robot-vac technology — while the only official consumer-robot recall still on the books remained a Canada-only dock electrical action from December 2020. No new CPSC, Health Canada, OPSS, or Safety Gate consumer-robot action was found this month.

## 01. Clean Base electrical recall still live — Canada only, dock not robot

*Event / publication dates: Health Canada RA-74597 posted 21 December 2020; last updated 21 December 2020; as-of incidents 8 December 2020. Still posted through this cutoff.*

**Product class.** Robot vacuums / mop combos (dock electrical)

**Verified record — [Fact — A1]** Health Canada recalled the Clean Base automatic dirt-disposal dock sold with certain Roomba i7+ units (models i755020; 4626191; 4639186; 4699390). If the robot ingests a significant volume of liquid, the vacuum motor may disperse liquid onto the dock PCB and short it. The page states the issue “does not involve the Roomba i7 vacuum itself.” As of 8 December 2020: no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada. 11,971 Canada units, sold July 2018–March 2020. Remedy: free fused line cord; some serials get a replacement Clean Base. ## 02. CES 2021: JetBot camera as home monitor; Bot Care and Bot Handy have no date

**Verified record — [Fact — B1]** Samsung’s CES 2021 briefing named three home robots. **JetBot 90 AI+**: LiDAR, 3D sensors, object recognition, and a camera integrated with SmartThings “to assist you with home monitoring,” US arrival first half of 2021. **Samsung Bot Care** and **Bot Handy** were presented as in-development companion and household-manipulation robots with no launch date. Roborock unveiled S7 the same day (US sale 24 March, auto-empty dock later). That is a product announcement, not a harm or trust primary, and is not graduated.

## 03. iRobot files ITC and district-court patents against SharkNinja

An earlier D. Mass. case (15 October 2019, five patents; preliminary injunction denied 26 November 2019) remained pending.
