## Executive read

### BLUF

Japan’s Consumer Affairs Agency published a serious-product-accident bulletin on a recalled eufy robot vac: charging fire that burned the unit and its surroundings. The August Anker Japan exchange and Aiper 23-784 remain live; they are August pages, not September events. No September CPSC, Health Canada, OPSS, or Safety Gate consumer-robot page was found.

### Key judgments

1. **[Assessment — High confidence]** CAA’s 26 September 2023 bulletin (A202300550) is a dated official fire report on an Anker Japan–imported self-propelled vacuum already under the 22 August recall.
2. **[Assessment — High confidence]** The bulletin states four FY2023 fire accidents on the recalled set, plus this additional case whose cause is still under investigation. Recovery on the Japan recall is printed at 57.6 percent as of 25 September.
3. **[Assessment — High confidence]** No September CPSC, Health Canada, OPSS, or Safety Gate consumer-robot page was found.

### Analytic labels
- **Fact** — verified reporting or primary record
- **Assessment** — analytic judgment
- **Inference** — reasoned but not directly observed
- **Uncertainty** — unresolved information gap

### Source grades
- **A1** — authoritative primary record / directly confirmed
- **B1–B2** — generally reliable and corroborated
- **C3** — useful but requires caution (typical for forums)

## 01. CAA — eufy robovac charging fire on a recalled pack (A202300550)

*Event / publication dates: accident 15 August 2023 (Aichi); Consumer Safety Act publication 24 August; company recognized 13 September; CAA product-safety bulletin 26 September 2023*

**Product class.** Robot vacuums / mop combos

**Verified record — [Fact — A1]** Consumer Affairs Agency of Japan, 26 September 2023: serious product accident under the Consumer Product Safety Act on an Anker Japan–imported **電気掃除機(自走式)** (self-propelled / robot vacuum). Management number **A202300550**. While charging, an odor was noticed; the product and surroundings were burned. Cause under investigation. The same notice restates the 22 August recall/exchange: Eufy RoboVac 15C, G30, G30 Hybrid, Clean G40 Hybrid / G40+ / G40 Hybrid+, RoboVac X8 Hybrid, Clean X9 Pro with Auto-Clean Station, and named replacement packs (T2120 / T2250 / T2253 / T2256 / T2272 / T2273 / T2261 / T2320 / T2908 / T2937); sold 1 April–21 August 2023; **9,588** Japan units. Recovery rate **57.6 percent** as of 25 September 2023. Recalled-set FY2023 serious-accident fires: **4** (this case excluded from that count). The notice states it is not yet established whether A202300550 is the same mechanism as the recall. Primary: [CAA 26 September 2023 PDF](https://www.caa.go.jp/notice/assets/consumer_safety_cms202_230926_01.pdf). Serial check: [Anker Japan](https://www.ankerjapan.com/pages/robovac-support).

**Threat landscape.** A floor-vac lithium pack already under a Japan manufacturer/METI exchange now has a dated official fire bulletin with a recovery-rate line. The US still has no CPSC page.

**Forum / community notes.**
- none found.

**Intelligence assessment.** [Assessment — High confidence] September’s new spine is the CAA bulletin, not a new defect. [Uncertainty] Whether A202300550 is the 22D51 lot mechanism is unpublished on the 26 September page.

**Opportunity.** A still-live METI HTML, a CPSC twin, or a later CAA cause finding.

**LRRK relevance.** Lab (pack lot). Watch: 22D51 global vs Japan vs later Canada. Passport: official fire count now has a Japan numerator.

**Confidence.** High on the 26 September publication, A202300550, the charging-fire sentence, 9,588 units, and 57.6 percent recovery. Low on unpublished cause.

## Forward indicators

1. Any Health Canada or CPSC eufy pack page.
2. Any Anker Japan expansion of the 22 August notice.
3. Seagull Pro as a remedy SKU — any new official page.
4. Any named pediatric robotic-mower case.
5. Any RAPEX / Safety Gate twin of the eufy pack file.

> **Collection integrity.** Added: CAA 26 September A202300550. The August Aiper and Anker Japan files remain live and are not restated as September events. Excluded: iRobot earnings / 10-Q restatements of the already-open Amazon review (M&A, not a safety spine); product launches; forum-only pack anecdotes. The Anker Japan 16 October expansion is outside this window. No September CPSC/Health Canada/OPSS/Safety Gate consumer-robot page was found. No RAPEX robovac weekly-report ID dated September 2023 independently loaded. Forum empty.
