October put three unmanned political economies on one map: Bellingcat dated a Bayraktar TB2 and GCS at Batman AFB (imagery from October 2015, published 13 October 2016) as Turkey’s answer to denied Predators; Iraqi forces opened the Mosul offensive on 17 October into a city where IS commercial UAS were already a specialist concern; and Forbes (5 October) wrote the autopsy of 3D Robotics’ Solo — the U.S. open-source challenger that lost to DJI.
