## Executive read

### BLUF

September confirms Anki Cozmo is still a shipping consumer robot: UK on-sale 15 September at £199.99 (Argos and anki.com), with Japan, Germany, France, and the Nordics added the same month. Jibo backer fulfillment is reported by later October pages, not by an opened September primary, and is not numbered here.

### Key judgments

1. **[Assessment — High confidence]** Cozmo is a live 2017 SKU, not a 2016 remnant. i Paper, 15 September: on sale in the UK; Mark Palatucci says the robot “is never online” and face recognition is local.
2. **[Assessment — High confidence]** No official consumer-robot recall dated September 2017 was found.
3. **[Uncertainty]** September Jibo-to-backers ship is widely repeated in October wrap-ups (Robot Report: “Starting in September 2017… more than 2,500 units”). No September-dated named-newsroom page was opened. It is not a September Fact.

### Analytic labels
- **Fact** — verified reporting or primary record
- **Assessment** — analytic judgment
- **Inference** — reasoned but not directly observed
- **Uncertainty** — unresolved information gap

### Source grades
- **A1** — authoritative primary record / directly confirmed
- **B1–B2** — generally reliable and corroborated
- **C3** — useful but requires caution (typical for forums)

## 01. Anki Cozmo still shipping — UK on-sale 15 September; Palatucci says it is never online

*Event / publication dates: 15 September 2017 (i Paper, UK on-sale); 12 September 2017 (Anki international list via Canadian Reviewer)*

**Product class.** Toy / entertainment robots; educational / programmable kits; social / desk companions

**Verified record — [Fact — B1]** i Paper, 15 September 2017: Cozmo “has gone on sale in the UK” at **£199.99** after a US launch in October 2016 that “promptly sold out.” Mark Palatucci, Anki co-founder and CPO: “The robot is never online – it’s a direct connection to your phone or tablet, nothing’s ever sent to the internet. When it recognises your face, it’s done locally.” The paired app can show the face-camera feed (“Explorer Mode”) and a drag-and-drop Code Lab. [i Paper](https://inews.co.uk/news/technology/cozmo-the-little-ai-robot-goes-on-sale-in-the-uk-91258). Pocket-lint (Anki London offices): launches in Argos and on anki.com on **15 September** at £199.99, plus a “Liquid Metal” collector finish; SDK already in use. [Pocket-lint](https://www.pocket-lint.com/parenting/reviews/139160-cozmo-preview-the-anki-robot-friend-comes-to-the-uk-at-last/). Anki, as quoted 12 September: already in the US and Canada; “this month, we add Japan, Germany, UK, France, and the Nordic countries.” [Canadian Reviewer](https://www.canadianreviewer.com/cr/2017/9/12/ankis-cozmo-robot-is-now-available-in-japan-germany-uk-franc.html) (B2).

**Vector is not announced. Anki is not shutting down.** Those are 2018–2019 files.

**Injuries/deaths:** none. No official incident count.

**Threat landscape.** A palm-sized face-camera toy whose maker this month claims a local-only path. Physical harm named is none. The residual trust question is whether Explorer Mode frames stay on the paired phone. Palatucci’s sentence is a company claim, not a lab result.

**Forum / community notes.**
- none found.

**Intelligence assessment.** [Assessment — High confidence] Cozmo is still shipping in September 2017 and is expanding. [Inference — Moderate confidence] “Never online” is the companion-trust control Anki is selling against the July Roomba-maps week. [Uncertainty] Independent confirmation of the local-only path was not obtained.

**Opportunity.** A dated SDK/privacy page, or any 2017 regulator file on the face-camera toy class.

**LRRK relevance.** Sense / Move / Act (face camera on a child’s desk). Passport: local-only claim. Watch: Cozmo as a live SKU — not Vector, not a shutdown.

**Confidence.** High on 15 September UK on-sale and the Palatucci quote as printed. Moderate on the full country list (B2). Low on packet-level verification of “never online.”

## Forward indicators

1. Jibo public launch / fulfillment — October pages, not this month.
2. Kuri holiday-2017 ship.
3. Any 2017 official consumer-robot recall.
4. IEC / EN robotic-mower standard activity before year-end.
5. Any brand-named robotic-mower pediatric case.

> **Collection integrity.** One signal. **Not numbered:** Jibo September backer ship (October wrap-ups only; AmericanInno / BBJ HTML blocked in this collection). **Killed:** Vector (October 2018); Anki shutdown (April 2019); iRobot sold maps (July walk-back stands); Roomba CPSC recall (none); named mower fatality (none); Pertisau; Jibo funeral. Forum empty.
