December closes the year with a mower-standard control and a companion first-ship. IEC 60335-2-107:2017 Ed. 2.0 is published 15 December and adds a standing-child foot-probe test. ## 01. IEC 60335-2-107:2017 Ed. 2.0 — standing-child foot probe enters the robotic-mower standard

**Verified record — [Fact — A1]** IEC publishes **IEC 60335-2-107:2017**, Edition 2.0, “Household and similar electrical appliances — Safety — Part 2-107: Particular requirements for robotic battery powered electrical lawnmowers,” publication date **2017-12-15**. Scope: robotic battery rotary mowers and peripherals, battery ≤75 V d.c.; charging stations and perimeter-delimiter signal sources; Annex KK for lithium-ion charging. Cancels and replaces the 2012 first edition (technical revision). IEC catalog of “significant technical changes” includes Clause 20, Stability and mechanical hazards: revised manual controller / manual stop / cutting-means stopping time / traction-drive stopping and restart, “as well as a **new standing child foot probe test**.” Also new or revised markings, live-part protection, obstruction-sensing contact surfaces, and charging connectors. **Verified record — [Fact — B1]** Darrell Etherington, TechCrunch, 20 December 2017: Mayfield Robotics “revealed that its initial shipments have gone out via FedEx,” “technically met its goal of beginning to ship… prior to the end of 2017, if only just.” Kuri: touch sensors; “expressive eyes with a built-in camera and live-streaming capabilities”; speakers; microphones; gestural actuators; obstacle avoidance; multi-room / multi-floor rolling; “automatically capture special moments”; about **$700**.
