Price: move to range more to the west for 1st MARDIV and MEF; 960-foot dirt strip built by Seabees, first built specifically for the UAV squadron; during the war they worked off the sides of roads; four-hour sorties, one per day now; ~800 hours in the war in this telling (another June story said 800 hours). ## 03. 10 June — Bluefin BPAUV from USS Falcon

**Verified record — [Fact — A1]** Navy News, 19 June 2003 (opened): sneak preview 10 June aboard USS *Falcon* (MHC 59) of a UUV from an Osprey-class coastal minehunter; Bill Schopfel, ONR: two-year experimentation to employ UUVs with the ship’s organic sensors; BPAUV should reduce SMCM-ship vulnerability and shorten the mine-hunting timeline; two weeks in the Corpus Christi Operating Area; Bob Grieve, Bluefin, designed the current vehicle in 11 months; “great user feedback.” Same story: tests on a similar smaller vehicle, REMUS, being conducted aboard USS *Pelican* (MHC 53). Lamartin, 17 March 2004 HASC testimony (opened): Pioneer deployed to support the run to Baghdad “last year” where it flew over 700 sorties and accumulated 2300 flight hours; twenty prototype Dragon Eye systems also deployed last year; Hunter and Shadow in Iraq since 19 March 2003.
