### BLUF

Cloud kill and home-humanoid money arrived in the same month. Vorwerk began phasing out Neato cloud (button-start still works). Figure introduced 03 for “the home” **without a consumer price or pre-order**. 1X opened NEO at **$20,000** or **$499/month**, US deliveries 2026. Do not treat Figure as taking the $20,000 deposits.

### Key judgments

## 01. Neato cloud phase-out — Vorwerk notice, 6 October

*Event / publication dates: Neato / Vorwerk support notice 6 October 2025*

**Product class.** Robot vacuums / mop combos

**Verified record — [Fact — A1]** A Neato Robotics support article, modified **6 October 2025**, states that Vorwerk is “phasing out Neato cloud services.” Neato ceased operations in 2023; Vorwerk says it had committed to **five years** of cloud service and had continued the platform after closure. The reason as written: since 2023, “cybersecurity standards, compliance obligations, and regulatory frameworks have advanced significantly”; “updating this environment would not be technically meaningful.” What has not changed, as written: manufacturer warranty remains; “Your Neato robot will continue to function manually. Simply press the button once to launch a full house run.” Other Vorwerk products are said to be unaffected. **Threat landscape.** Hardware can survive. App, maps, and scheduling die with the cloud. “Cybersecurity compliance” is the stated reason for pulling a working service before the five-year mark. Physical harm is not alleged.

**Forum / community notes.**
- Home Assistant issue #154151 opened 10 October 2025 pointing at the same notice — C3/B2 community confirmation of the announcement, not a second official action.

**Intelligence assessment.** [Assessment — High confidence] The five-year promise broke at about year two. Button-start still works; the viral claim that Neato robots will not clean is false on the vendor’s own page. [Uncertainty] The exact shutoff instant is not a date on the notice (“phasing out now”).

**Opportunity.** Any Magnuson-Moss / support-duration complaint that cites this notice against the November 2024 FTC staff theory. That case does not exist this month.

**LRRK relevance.** Control Fabric and Campaign (cloud as the robot). Passport: support-duration disclosure and brick/refund rule. Watch: whether button-start remains after full decommission.

**Confidence.** High on the notice, the five-year promise, and button-start. Low on the calendar day the last cloud session dies.

## 02. Figure 03 introduced — not a consumer pre-order

**Product class.** Emerging general-purpose or humanoid home robots

**Verified record — [Fact — A1]** Figure published “Introducing Figure 03” on **9 October 2025**. The page markets Figure 03 for Helix, “the home,” and mass manufacturing (BotQ, “up to 12,000” units per year as a first-generation line goal). Home-facing claims as written: soft goods, multi-density foam at pinch points, 9% less mass than Figure 02, wireless inductive charging at 2 kW via foot coils, UN38.3 battery language, washable textiles. **No price. **Threat landscape.** A would-be home humanoid with a home-safety story and no dedicated CPSC home-humanoid rule. Soft goods and UN38.3 are not a home-deployment finding. This is **not** the $20,000 SKU.

**Intelligence assessment.** [Assessment — High confidence] Figure 03 is an introduction, not a consumer sale. Treating it as taking $20,000 home deposits is an error. [Uncertainty] Whether any home deployment exists this month is not established. Planned is not deployed.

## 03. Home Assistant alert — Neato cloud “about to be disabled,” 20 October

**Product class.** Robot vacuums / mop combos

**Verified record — [Fact — A1 / B1]** Home Assistant published an integration alert on **20 October 2025**: “Neato cloud is about to be disabled.” The alert states that Vorwerk announced the upcoming shutdown of all Neato cloud services and that “the integration will no longer be able to control any neato devices, and will thus stop working.” Created Mon 20 Oct 2025. The integration docs later note that new setups cannot be created because the Neato Developer Network is offline, and that existing setups “may continue to work until the cloud is fully shut down.”

**Threat landscape.** Third-party home automation is a casualty of the same cloud pull. This is not a second vendor decision. It is the installed-base echo of signal 01.

**Forum / community notes.**
- HA core issue #154151 (10 October) and later discussion that some users still had a working cloud — C3 until the vendor names a hard-off date.

**Intelligence assessment.** [Assessment — High confidence] HA treated the 6 October notice as an imminent integration death. [Uncertainty] Whether the cloud was already dark for some users on 20 October is not established from the alert text.

**Opportunity.** A Vorwerk hard-off date.

## 04. 1X NEO — $20,000 / $499 a month, US 2026

**Product class.** Emerging general-purpose or humanoid home robots

**Verified record — [Fact — A1]** 1X announced NEO on **28 October 2025** as “the world’s first consumer-ready humanoid.” Opened product page: 66 pounds; lift over 150 pounds; carry 55 pounds; Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 5G; 22 dB; tendon drive; soft lattice body. US deliveries **2026**, other markets 2027. **Early Access $20,000** (priority delivery 2026) or **$499/month** (later ship). For chores NEO does not yet know, owners “can schedule a 1X Expert to guide it.” No UL or CPSC certificate is cited on the opened page. Source: [1X](https://www.1x.tech/discover/neo-home-robot).

Secondary (B2): Engadget, 29 October 2025, quoting a *Wall Street Journal* interview with CEO Bernt Børnich, reported that early buyers must agree a human operator will see inside the house through the robot’s camera; that much early work will be teleoperated; that sessions are scheduled in an app; that people can be blurred and rooms marked no-go; and that an operator cannot take control without owner approval. That is a live risk class **if the secondary description holds**, not a finding that anyone has been hurt. **Threat landscape.** Money is being collected for unsupervised-looking home bodies under no dedicated CPSC home-humanoid rule. The official page already names a scheduled Expert. A 30 kg biped that can carry 55 lb past a toddler is not a vacuum problem.

**Intelligence assessment.** [Assessment — High confidence] This is the priced consumer pre-order. Figure is not. [Inference — Moderate confidence] The first real home-humanoid harm file will be argued as teleop-consent and sensor-gap, not as “the robot woke up.” [Uncertainty] 2026 delivery status is planned, not deployed.

**Opportunity.** A UL 3300 citation, a CPSC rule, or a written teleop-consent and indicator specification on the product page.

**LRRK relevance.** Kestrel: the hidden operator. Passport: teleop consent, operator identity and location, indicator integrity, absence of a dedicated home rule. Campaign: prepaid SKU as a trust instrument (Mail Order Rule already exists).
