**Verified extract — [Fact — B1]** Cyrus Farivar reported that after the FAA’s November 2013 “roadmap” for integrating unmanned aircraft systems, the agency on Monday announced six research-and-test site operators: University of Alaska; the state of Nevada; Griffiss International Airport in upstate New York; the state of North Dakota; Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi; and Virginia Tech. Selection factors quoted from the FAA: geography, climate, ground infrastructure, research needs, airspace use, safety, aviation experience, and risk. Test ranges were due to end by February 2017, by which time new drone-usage rules should be finalized.
