January made the consumer quadcopter a presidential-compound Sense failure: a store-bought DJI Phantom, too small for the White House radar designed for planes, missiles, and large drones, crashed on the South Lawn after 3 a.m. on 26 January while the President was overseas — the first reported intrusion of its kind on the grounds.

## 02. Radar built for large objects missed a two-pound airframe

**Verified record — [Fact — B1]** TIME (Zeke Miller, published 26 January): a uniformed-division officer on the South Grounds “heard and observed” the device at low altitude before it crashed on the southeast side of the 18-acre zone shortly after 3 a.m.; lockdown while officials studied the device. Leary: the individual called Monday morning after news reports, was interviewed, “fully cooperative.” Earnest in New Delhi: device recovered; “does not pose any sort of ongoing threat.” Secret Service released a photo identifying a DJI Phantom retailing for several hundred dollars; unclear whether a camera was fitted or recording. **Verified record — [Fact — C3]** This collection did not retrieve a January 2015 Air Force or CENTCOM primary that names a new Predator/Reaper orbit or a dated Yemen/Afghanistan strike table for the month. BBC’s June 2015 Wuhayshi piece (fetched for a later month) states that since late January 2015 AQAP lost high-profile figures in U.S. drone strikes — that sentence is not used here as a January Fact. Continuity: MQ-1/MQ-9 remain the U.S. extra-theater Act platforms; no January retirement or CAP-cut primary was fetched.
