Pakistani media said scores were injured. A senior Pakistani security official told AFP the compound was a suspected militant hideout. Nationalities of the dead were disputed. The piece noted Admiral Mike Mullen's arrival in Pakistan after comments in India about ISI–extremist links. Jill McGivering said the attacks fuelled anti-American sentiment.
