## Executive read

### BLUF

April is thin. No new CPSC, Health Canada, OPSS, Safety Gate, or ACCC consumer-robot action dated this month was found. The live official file is still Husqvarna Automower AWD (CPSC 17 February). The live consumer docket is still Toolis (filed 10 March). Thin stays thin.

### Key judgments

1. **[Assessment — High confidence]** April 2022 produced no new official kinematic recall in the jurisdictions searched.
2. **[Assessment — High confidence]** Husqvarna AWD remains the only 2022 numbered US consumer-robot fire recall. OTA uptake is still unpublished.
3. **[Uncertainty]** Toolis has no April ruling on the open sources used this pass. Absence of press is not a disposition.

### Analytic labels
- **Fact** — verified reporting or primary record
- **Assessment** — analytic judgment
- **Inference** — reasoned but not directly observed
- **Uncertainty** — unresolved information gap

### Source grades
- **A1** — authoritative primary record / directly confirmed
- **B1–B2** — generally reliable and corroborated
- **C3** — useful but requires caution (typical for forums)

## 01. Carry — Husqvarna Automower AWD (CPSC 22-727) still live

*Event / publication dates: CPSC 17 February 2022 (still live); Health Canada 9 December 2021; OPSS alert 20 October 2021*

**Product class.** Robotic lawn mowers

**Verified record — [Fact — A1]** Automower **435X AWD** and **535 AWD**. Lithium-ion battery can overheat. CPSC: about **1,400** US units; **five** overheats including **two fires**; **no injuries**; free software update; free battery if **>1,200** charge cycles. [CPSC](https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2022/Husqvarna-Recalls-All-Wheel-Drive-Robotic-Lawnmowers-Due-to-Fire-Hazard-Recall-Alert). Health Canada: **310** Canada units; degradation after **1,450** cycles; no Canada/US incidents as of 15 November 2021. [Health Canada](https://recalls-rappels.canada.ca/en/alert-recall/husqvarnar-branded-automower-435x-awd-and-automower-535-awd-robotic-lawnmowers). Manufacturer: second OTA (battery-health / auto-shutdown) was expected February 2022; **this pass did not find an April confirmation that every unit took it.**

**No April restatement, close-out, or new incident count was found.**

**Threat landscape.** Unsupervised outdoor lithium. Remedy is code plus a cycle-count swap. Blade/child injury is not the stated CPSC hazard.

**Forum / community notes.**
- none found.

**Intelligence assessment.** [Assessment — High confidence] The recall is still the live official fire file. [Uncertainty] Whether the February OTA closed the charging-pattern risk is unpublished.

**Opportunity.** An uptake figure, a post-update fire, or a regulator close-out.

**LRRK relevance.** Control Fabric / Campaign (OTA as safety control). Watch: any summer-season fire report.

**Confidence.** High on the underlying official pages. Low on completion.

## 02. Carry — Toolis v. iRobot remains a pleading, not a finding

*Event / publication dates: filed 10 March 2022; Law.com defense-counsel note 25 April 2022*

**Product class.** Robot vacuums / mop combos

**Verified record — [Fact — B1]** *Toolis v. iRobot Corporation*, N.D. Ill. **1:22-cv-01290**, Judge Martha M. Pacold. Error 5 / left-wheel / alleged H-bridge defect; $59 wheel kit alleged not to remedy; consumer-protection and warranty claims; **no injury alleged**. Law.com, 25 April 2022: Fox Rothschild (Martin R. Martos II, Gabrielle Winslow) appeared for iRobot. [Law.com](https://www.law.com/2022/04/25/who-got-the-work-heres-who-worked-on-elon-musks-44b-purchase-of-twitter-and-more/). **No April opinion, class certification, or settlement was found.**

**Threat landscape.** Economic / brick, not physical harm.

**Forum / community notes.**
- none found this month. Pre-existing RobotReviews H-bridge threads remain C3 background.

**Intelligence assessment.** [Assessment — High confidence] Still unadjudicated. [Uncertainty] PACER docket after the Fox Rothschild appearance was not pulled.

**Opportunity.** The answer or a motion to dismiss.

**LRRK relevance.** Watch: 1:22-cv-01290.

**Confidence.** High on existence and non-injury character. Low on status beyond counsel appearance.

## Forward indicators

1. Any May–June official restatement of Husqvarna AWD (ACCC / OPSS HTML / close-out).
2. Toolis answer or motion.
3. First 2022 official floor-robot-vac thermal file.
4. Any named 2022 pediatric robotic-mower case (none through April).
5. Amazon Astro general availability (still invite-only as of February reporting).

> **Collection integrity.** April is a **thin month by design**. Searched CPSC, Health Canada, OPSS, Safety Gate, ACCC, named newsrooms, and the Toolis docket via secondary press. No new official kinematic action. No new injury primary. Excluded: FAO Schwarz wooden robot; 2021 Motherboard Astro leak; any temptation to re-report CES launches as April news. No April forum threads independently opened.
