**Verified extract — [Fact — B2]** BBC Arabic reported Iranian media accounts that Tehran had developed an unmanned aircraft able to take off vertically without a runway. Analysts doubted periodic Iranian defence-engineering claims. Abbas Jam, a researcher on this class of aircraft, told Mehr the aircraft was under test and its final form would be revealed the following year; he said it used very advanced technology presented to the world for the first time. The page recalls Israel’s October shoot-down of a UAV 55 km inside its airspace; Hezbollah claimed responsibility, saying components were made in Iran and assembled in Lebanon. Defence Minister Ahmad Vahidi said the downed aircraft did not represent Iran’s latest technology. Ismail Kosari, head of the Majlis defence committee, told Mehr the aircraft had transmitted images of “sensitive Israeli bases” before it was shot down, in real time.
