Sen. John Hoeven: Northrop “makes the Global Hawk unmanned aircraft” and is “an ideal partner.” The company had signed a letter of intent the prior year; Hoeven said CEO Wes Bush told him Tuesday the lease with Grand Sky Development Co. was signed Monday. Tom Swoyer, president of Grand Sky Development Co., said the lease still awaited Grand Forks County and Air Force approval; terms undisclosed. The Air Force leases the 217-acre parcel adjacent to Grand Forks AFB to the county, which subleases to Grand Sky Development. Northrop’s three-phase project: office, hangar, then more office; first office occupancy targeted September 2016.
