**Verified extract — [Fact — B2]** BBC Arabic reported a U.S. unmanned aircraft struck a car in Yemen and killed its three occupants, suspected al-Qaeda members — two Yemenis and a Saudi, a tribal source told AFP. The raid targeted two cars on the road linking al-Aram and al-Said; one car was hit. Washington considers AQAP among the most active jihadist branches. Citing New America Foundation, drone raids in the area in 2012 were three times 2011 (18 to 53). At least four people believed to be Ansar al-Sharia members were killed Saturday in Abyan by a drone, local residents said. Several Abyan districts including al-Mahfad had been under al-Qaeda for a year until the June 2012 army offensive.
