## 02. Jibo is still alive — NTT says existing units stay operational

**Verified record — [Fact — B1]** Ashley Carman, 23 July 2020: Jibo “was supposed to die over a year ago, yet somehow, it’s still alive.” NTT Disruption bought Jibo’s rights and patents; next iteration is caregiver/educator in businesses (children’s hospitals) and a virtual/smartphone twin. Marc Alba, NTT Disruption president: existing owners’ robots “will remain operational”; “whatever happens in Jibo stays in Jibo” on data. Crowdfunding background: Indiegogo 2014, more than $3 million plus >$70 million VC; about **6,000** presale units; first ship September 2017, public $899. Carman writes that owners “learned in May” of the NTT website; that May learning is reported here, not independently pinned to a May primary.
